I wish someone could explain in plain English (orange crayon please) what is Permanent and Total. I know at face value what it is, but when I go to pay property taxes, I get reminded that I need to be 100%P&T to get a tax credit. I don't see much online about the means used to determine it. I would think a missing limb would be it, but is that the only way? Not trying to hijack a thread, but it seems to be a good number of smart folks in here who know what they're talking about.

SSG Warren Swanl Swany, When I first joined RP a year ago, something came up about asking for an explanation about filing an appeal. I wrote back with the same advice I wrote in this blog. I told them to file a reconsideration instead of an appeal. Someone wrote back and said the VA doesn't do that anymore. I never checked into it, but now I see that person didn't know what they were talking about. I promise you, when I find something I consider important or even not important about the VA, I'll write about it.

SGT (Join to see) - I love me some humor posts, but THIS is a sore subject that really needs to be pounded over and over again. What burns me on this is while there are regulations governing this, depending on where you are nets what you get. It's all dependent on the person looking at it, and that's not right.

SSG Warren Swan, You're correct. I hear horror stories all the time from vetetans who come to Houston from over 200 miles away. It's something that the Veteran's Secretary needs to look into. If the horror stories from Arizona didn't wake him up, I don't know what it will take. All I can say is it's our Government allowing this to happen. Maybe with a new POTUS it will get looked into, unless it's Clinton.

SGT (Join to see) - Agreed, but if the next POTUS dismisses the current head of VA without giving him a real chance to implement the changes he wants to, then the clock is reset at the cost of the vets. I know normally cabinet members are changes when the new POTUS comes in, but this would be one I'd keep if only for a year to see was the time under the current POTUS used wisely to get groundwork set in place, and with that next year, are they implemented. Besides the POTUS being an issue, you still have congress who are more than determined to take the good idea fairy and introduce her to Carl....no one likes Carl.

There are several veterans organizations in Central Texas like Texas Veterans, DAV, VFW that will assist free of charge. They have have offices at the Temple VA hospital, on Fort Hood, Harker Hgts Vet Center and at thier local chapters

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL I just received a VA response where they denied receiving former employer information with address provided by the VAMC patient advocate months ago and (2) and that I attended the appointment I actually attended in November 5.
The VA ratings reconsideration process is fraught with inefficiency and bureaucratic error.
I have had VFW help me and Congress needed to get involved to get teh VA to compensate me for the initial 70% rating. I concur with SMSgt Minister Gerald A. Thomas's response.
I started a discussion about my experiences a couple days ago.
