Lets be fair and upfront. "THEY" don't come here for our culture, food or beaches. They come here because we hire them. "WE" being companies who have senators/congressfolk (probably one from your state...) on their board. THIS is why building a wall won't work. So rather than nickel and dime what THEY do with the money they earn, how about nipping it in the bud right away? Here's my plan:
1. Find a company with illegals on their payroll.
2. Jail CEO/upper management.
3. Deport illegals to the nearest border crossing.
4. Fire all company employees.
5. As employee's are "fired" they are not allowed unemployment.
6. Break the company up and all funds from the company go to the government.
How many times do you think that would need to be done? Now...I do understand/realize/gander that there may be "one or two" insane white folk on payroll who will see a darkish looking employee and immediately assume he/she is illegal and start impromptu questioning. This will then lead a sage HR folk to issue photo ID's "hey-dipshit-I'm-legal-to-work-here"
Is this a bad thing? At first it will be. But then - like I said - how many times will this need to be done? What if all 42 employees of "Harry's Tree Cutters" get fired because one of the cutters had a false social? What if all 42 of them stormed the office and beat Harry to a pulp with a hammer? Yeah...again...that would be sad, but its a small price to pay. See...the reason you good folk have such sin as "ENRON" is because, frankly, you (a) allow it and (b) there's no consequences. Were *I* to have been a soon-to-retire Enron-er and found I had no cash, I'd have lynched Mr. Enron in front of his family while burning his house down. I think the point would then be made.
Hard to believe this nation was founded by folk who disagreed with the government's tax proposals by hanging (K I L L I N G) the government tax collectors.

Why should you be held accountable? It has to start somewhere. The reason it goes on is that there are no consequences. If HR's not doing their job, they soon will when 203 angry just-fired employee's descend upon their office. Soon, foo-foo training like how to make your company toilets pan-genderini safe will go away. And be replaced by, "is that social security number forged?"
Like I said, how many companies would you need to do this to? All you'd need is a handful and the word would get out. Yeah, there'd be stories of overzealous workers harassing coworkers who "look suspicious" but fear is a good thing. Maybe then we can get a national ID card system in place and solve a million other problems in the process?

Interesting PO3 Donald Murphy most of what you propose is already in the labor laws. The major problem is enforcement which you are alluding to, however instead of applying the penalties and proper legal remedies in accordance with the law, that part is usually ignored. In most cases if the owner/s of a company are jailed the company collapses and you do not have to worry about the legal employees being fired, they wouldn't have a job anyway.

This isn't necessary. People would not come if they didn't have work. They are people, by the way, SrA Monette, not "scum" or "worthless." We have probably the most severe law of any state, and they targeted the employers, no one else. It stopped. Of course, squash rotted in the fields because no one else wanted to pick it, but it did stop. By the way, my favorite Mexican restaurant also closed. LOL

I am a son of an immigrant, but a legal one. With that out of the way, I would like to tell you a story. In The Old 1/35 Armor (Ferris Barracks West Germany) during The Vietnam Era, I worked for CSM Edward Lennon. My Boss, CSM Lennon (born in Michigan, his mother was a Brit), and was in The British Army during World War II, but never transferred to American Forces after December 7, 1941. Sitting at his desk, every other night, pulling Battalion Staff Duty, I noted in his file, he was with The London Metropolitan Police from 1945 to 1947. During a visit with him, after he retired and I ETSed, I asked him about this.
Well, he said that he was interviewed by Reps of The American Forces, but decided to stay with The British Commandos and later to fight in Burma! O-K! About about 8 years ago, I found out on his grave stone he was 17 years old on 7 DEC 41! He would have been obviously kicked out.
But any way, why did he work for The London Police for 2 years? Because The U.S. would not recognize his Citizenship, until 1947. In due course, he went back to The U.S, and joined The U.S. Army and became quite a legend...word got around about his British Commando Experience pretty fast, he was in and out of SHAPE Headquarter through out his career; we got him from SHAPE G-2 to be our Battalion CSM.
Back in those days, Ed, almost had to get an Act of Congress, to get him back in to The Country of his Birth...give me a break!
Lubriciously, the story doesn't end there. To end, not to get off the subject. Ed retired from The U.S. Army in the 70s to Rhode Island. He wanted to work a little into his retirement, still just 50 or so!! (do the math!) Lately, I've noted Retired CSM getting Consulting Jobs these days... Seems The Rhode Island Job Service (perhaps back in 1977) didn't know what to do with Ed, so they sent him for "Retraining" as a Security Guard!

Sorry for my misuse of the English Language, I flunked Junior Year English and almost Senior Year Journalism...which didn't make my mother to happy; she was a Brit! Living in The New York City Area, I'm well aware of the actions of the admin at Ellis Island back in the day...my mother came through in 1923. I just though CSM Edward Lennon's immigration saga, was quite an ordeal and history should make note of it.
