In other news, the civil war vet in question can expect to hear from the VA any day now regarding a claim initially filed in 1862. Unfortunately, since no LOD was completed on the leg amputation at Shiloh, the VA will be unable to substantiate service connection and will assume the missing limb is merely the result of poor property book management practices.
