Who would have thought that the VA would still be paying a pension from the Civil War? After reading this, it surly is amazing. Of course it is the child of a Civil War Vet that is receiving it. The chart that is with it is surprising too. Since there are no Vets living from the Civil War to WWI, but there still children and spouses from that time still receiving pensions.

In other news, the civil war vet in question can expect to hear from the VA any day now regarding a claim initially filed in 1862. Unfortunately, since no LOD was completed on the leg amputation at Shiloh, the VA will be unable to substantiate service connection and will assume the missing limb is merely the result of poor property book management practices.
