I understand the viewpoint offered here. I disagree with it, but I understand it.
I think she (the author) needs to understand that it is possible to be more than one thing at once (a chef AND a mother, a politician AND a voter, a Trump supporter AND a nice person), and that politics is COMPLICATED. Maybe, just maybe, those next door neighbors supported Trump while holding their nose (as many I know did) because they couldn't stomach Hillary or Joe. Maybe they support his policies but not his person or his rhetoric. Of course, she could learn more by getting to know her neighbors - but extending the olive branch is obviously just TOO MUCH because Orange Man Bad.
(For the record, I did not vote for Trump in 2016 OR 2020, and think he was a horrible President. That does not mean I believe everyone who supported him must automatically be a bad person.)
