I even go back to the root of the problem. This young man should have been prosecuted tot he fullest extent of the law. Bob Stoops shouldn't have even let him back on the team. The victim will have to live with the pain of reconstructive surgery and the mental scars of this attack for the rest of her life while he is making millions in the NFL. If he had a DUI or maybe even smoked a blunt I might, just might, be able to give a second chance for that...something that affected just him...but this absolutely not. Leopards can't change their spots when it comes to violence. I have seen it too many times.

Now with Musburger. All he had to do was to talk about his ability to play football. The extra comments about all the other should be off the table. Had no merit on the game at hand. Stick to what is happening on the field. All you are doing is telling other kids that it is ok to do what you want to do and break the law and guess what, you will be fine and you can do whatever you want as long as you are athletically talented.

Why all the navel gazing about this? Are you shocked by a sports announcer minimizing an athlete's action off the field? Think back to what was said about Michael Vick, Ray Lewis, Pac Man Jones (not the recent arrest), former NHL player Dany Heatley, and others. To the announcers, its all about what they do, or have done, on the field. They don't care about the dogs that died due to Vick's fighting obsession. They don't care that Ray Lewis was deeply involved in the killing of a man, while Jones was in some way involved in a night club shooting of a bouncer. Lastly, Heatley killed his best friend in a DUI accident when he was driving 20 to 50 mph faster than the posted speed limit.

Frankly, I could go on all day with the list of athletes whose actions are down-played during radio and tv broadcasts. Its just incredulous at how they get passes you and I don't.
