Good morning my friend COL Mikel J. Burroughs my first thoughts when reading "Your Mind Day!" were on
1. the 1960s campaign "A mind is a terrible thing to waste," and
2. The movie A Beautiful Mind

I didn't get much sleep last night for various reasons. Today my younger sister turned 60 and I wished her a happy birthday about 0200 this morning.
I pray for a transformation by the renewing of my mind so that we may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. [Romans 12:2}

Our mind is associated with our brain but is not limited to the physicality of the brain. Soul and Spirit encompass who we truly are and are eternal going forward. In the resurrection our perfected soul will be joined with our perfected body and we who are the sons and daughters of God, through the atonement of the Christ, will have never ending and ever-increasing bliss.

Mathew 13:3b - 13 NASB
“Behold, the sower went out to sow; and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up. “Others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil. “But when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. “Others fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out. “And others fell on the good soil and yielded a crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty. “He who has ears, let him hear.”
And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” Jesus answered them, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. “For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. “Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand."

1. International life coach, relationship coach and motivational speaker Dhiraj Kumar Raj uses an oft-repeated agricultural analogy "Your mind is like soil, just plant the quality of seeds inside your inner world for manifesting quality of circumstances in your external world." Our mind is not limited to what we put into it. The parable of the seeds helps us understand
Mathew 13:3b - 13 NASB

2. Author James Lendall Basford uses poetic language and a piano forte analogy "The human mind is Nature's keyboard, on which her harmonies and discords are sounded by the touch of invisible fingers."

3. American operatic tenor Robert Brault uses a strange analogy "It’s hard to make up your bed while you’re still sleeping in it. Hard to make up your mind for the same reason."
a. Having a bed made while sleeping in it is doable especially when somebody else helps and you roll over at the right moment :-)
b. Our mind is sometimes freer when we sleep which is why sometimes we solve a issue or come up with a solution to a problem while sleeping that we wrestled with earlier :-)

4. American writer and philosopher Robert Maynard Pirsig seems pessimistic in his assessment of the classical mind as though modernism and post modernism are improvements :-) "That’s the classical mind at work, runs fine inside but looks dingy on the surface."

5. American author, salesman, and motivational speaker Hilary Hinton "Zig" Ziglar makes an interesting analogy "Wouldn’t it be wonderful if our mind growled like our stomach does when it is hungry?" The LORD prompts us to act or stop acting when we have a relationship with HIM.

"The power of the mind is your power. Use it. Don’t let it use you." — Terri Guillemets

Love the analogy of your brain growling when it is hungry. Feed your brain and keep moving forward. Best part of being alive is learning. Great thoughts on my second to last day of class Col. Have a great Thursday.

Thoughtful quotes today (no pun intended), COL Mikel J. Burroughs!

I love the quote "It’s hard to make up your bed while you’re still sleeping in it. Hard to make up your mind for the same reason." — Robert Brault

Thoughtful, indeed!
