What's happening to Russia's ability to make new arms should be a lesson to us, we can't rely on other countries for military production.

Of course we import ammo as US ammo suppliers primary customer is the US Military thus ammo for the civilian market is only a secondary concern. Think for a moment. You think anyone is going to build a factory to produce 9x18 Ultra, 7.35 Carcano, 30-40 Krag or any number of non military calibers. Nope.

Our local ammo manufacture, Black Hills Ammo has had a help wanted sign out for over a year.
From their web site:
"We supply all match 5.56 ammunition for the US Military’s Service Rifle Teams and provide specialty ammunition for specific military operations. "
I think we are "heavily reliant on China" for far too much. Let's pay higher cost and make more stuff here. (I know that won't happen, but one can wish)
