Rural Veterans are at a higher risk, because there is less access to physical medical care. The run-around that you get through "community care" is outrageous, and each VA area has a different set of rules of what they will authorize and what medicines you can have and what treatments you can have. If you are fighting pain all the time, or illness all the time, and being questioned or just outright denied all the time, of course there is going to be more depression. And if you feel like a burden on your family, because the only way to get any help is to pay out of pocket and be a financial drain...well the unthinkable starts becoming thinkable, sadly.
