There's a lot to unpack here; I'll try to be concise. As Christians, we have long wondered on the "Mark of the Beast"; it's meaning, purpose, and how to recognize it when and if it arrives in our time. Everything from social security numbers to bar codes and iPhones have come under scrutiny... and all seem to bear at least most of the hallmarks provided in scripture (cannot buy or sell, could be in the forehead or hands, etc.). However, most theologians will point to the relative chronology of events spelled out in Revelations as evidence we are not yet "there" in terms of human history. For my own part, I believe Revelations is to be taken both literally and figuratively... meaning, I believe it foretells actual events, but in a parabolic manner. The "Beast" could be a man, a nation, a confederation, or even an ideal (in my cautious opinion). The ubiquitous "number" of the same could literally be, "six-hundred, sixty-six"... or an allegory to mankind's attempts to duplicate the authority of the Trinity in their own form. With two millennia separating us from the prophecies... any number of events can be pointed to (erroneously perhaps) in an attempt to provide the "signs of the times". We could go down vary dark, and VERY disturbing trains of thought... but I'm inclined to believe that God is, "not the author of confusion".
That said, I view the current crisis, and the associated suggestions for remedying it with reasonable suspicion. Fear, it would seem, is enough to make any questioning of the "official" narrative, "heresy". Any suggestion that this disease may be either (a) not a severe as is being portrayed, or (b) the direct or indirect catalyst of an intentional act... is being met with cries of idiocy, lunacy, or irresponsibility. I won't say this proposed technology IS the Mark of the Beast... but having often wondered how millions could ever be convinced to accept such a mark... this seems to offer a plausible explanation.
