I'm going to pre-empt the following with my blanket statement: There are 2 sides to every story, however, if this side is an accurate depiction of what happened, then I stand behind the following 100%. If it isn't, then I still stand behind the premise of the following, as I believe that bad behavior is rewarded increasingly more over good behavior these days.
There are many times when the "customer is always right" should not apply.
Good job Great AMERICAN Cookie Company (I use the words "Great" and "American" with much reservation, at least for this store), let's all work together to see if we can punish good will, charity and generosity completely out of the 21st century. With any luck at all you guys can make good manners, kindness and courtesy from the U.S. In the next 10 years.
Punish the good and reward the bad; sadly, it's been going on way before this, and it will only get worse if companies do not stand up for what's right instead of what's politically correct.
Both can exist hand in hand if prudence is used in determining whether punishment is deserved or not.
In addition, this company just showed EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE what they think of them.
Everyone here understands the concept of leadership and how detrimental to moral and operations are when the chain of command shows no support for their troops.
Loyalty is a 2 way street, just as respect is a 2 way street. Employees will only be loyal to their companies for so after the company shows they are not loyal to their companies.

SGT Michael Thorin It is hard to believe this is happening, but I am so proud of this young man for sticking up for what he did. It was the right thing to do and it is also best he move on from the cookie company.

SPC Douglas Bolton - There are better jobs out there that respectable young man would fit into.

It is sad that the immature and jealous couple couldn't tolerate an act of kindness by 18-year-old cashier Zack Randolph as he paid for the dessert for a police officer TSgt Joe C. at Katy Mills Mall in Katy, Texas.
The fact that this indignant couple pulled their tantrum in front of their young daughter speaks to their poor character. I pity that young girl.
It is sad that Great American Cookies "upper management" fired Zack Randolph and may well only have reinstated him after the outpouring of support to his mom, Tami, who posted about the incident on Facebook.
I am glad that the local store manager supported Zack Randolph and that Zack Randolph said he would do what he did in heartbeat.
It seems that Zach has strong character in the good sense.
