On this day in 1927, a hero is born. Rudolf Anderson would go on to become the first recipient of the Air Force Cross. It’s been speculated that Anderson’s sacrifice during the Cuban Missile Crisis may have saved millions.

I'm sure he knew that his flying so many missions over the island would result in, at the very least, being fired upon. His missions and sacrifice were for a good cause.

Outstanding share Dale; Anderson's sacrifice saved lives and such selfless service deserves the Airforce Cross at the bare minimum.
