My guess (didn't confirm .. could be wrong) - the battle streamers are probably because Space Command was stood up as a branch from the redesignated Air Force Space Command (which was stood up in the early 80s) so it has the lineage and honors from them.

I got to see the "President's Own," at the Soldiers & Sailors Hall in Pittsburgh several years ago. They were amazing although I didn't enjoy the concert ... only the obvious skills because it was "high-brow" opera music. Yet, their talents were incredibly obvious.
