A soldier has been arrested and charged after video showed a Black man being accosted for being in the “wrong neighbourhood.”
Jonathan Pentland, 42, was captured on camera confronting the young man and shoving him on the street in Summit, South Carolina.
Now Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says Sergeant Pentland, who is stationed at Fort Jackson, has been charged with third-degree assault and battery over the Monday incident.
The charges reportedly carry a maximum penalty of a $500 fine or 30 days in prison.

If Pentland were my Soldier, he would be attending a Courts Martial immediately. It doesn't matter what the Civilian authority determines, he assaulted a man for walking on a public sidewalk.
I don't condone bullying in any respect, my question is whether this is a Racial issue. My take on the video, it is. Doubly inappropriate for a Senior NCO.
This is not the image the United States Army expects to see from it's leaders.
What I am disappointed in, from what I saw, the young man was physically assaulted, twice. His phone was slapped out of his hand, then after Pentland's wife addressed the young man, as soon as he tried to answer her, Pentland almost shoved him off his feet.

His career is effectively over. How is yet to be determined by his CoC. This dude no longer deserves to lead or serve and he showed why on film.
