Senate Poised To Vote To End U.S. Military Support For War In Yemen

The U.S. Senate is poised to deliver a historic rebuke to both Saudi Arabia and the Trump administration Wednesday night, passing a resolution demanding an end to U.S. military support for Saudi Arabia's ongoing war in Yemen.
The resolution draws on congressional authority spelled out in the 1973 War Powers Act – authority that, until now, Congress has never actually used.
The effort to stop American involvement in Yemen is still a long way from a done deal. The House would have to pass the resolution by years' end and President Trump would have to sign it — two steps that likely will not happen. Still, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., calls the vote "a profound message."

"Rebuke of the Trump Admin"? We've been operating in Yemen for a long time. The most recent activity in conjunction with Saudi has many actors which we consider our allies. Also, it started in 2015... Would this not be a rebuke of the Obama Admin's military support to Yemen?
Once we pull support, are we going to just let Iran move in even more and push to challenge open seas through the Bab al-Mandab Straight as they do in the Straight of Hormuz?

As much as I don’t like the repressive House of Saud, folks need to look at the big picture. The Saudis are one of our best allies in the region. It’s better to overlook their cultural differences from us and focus on the stability in the region that the Saudi’s provide.
