Father Emil Kapaun always knew he wanted to be a Catholic priest. He accomplished that goal and also became one of the most decorated Army chaplains in America.

He died in a prisoner of war camp during the Korean War but not before saving the lives of countless fellow prisoners. A new book tells his story and also details the campaign to make him a saint. The men he saved and the people in his home state of Kansas already think he is.

Great Share PO1 William "Chip" Nagel … I wrote an article about Chaplain Kapaun when I was deployed to Egypt in 2009-2010. It was at that time when he was upgraded to the Medal of Honor (MoH) by the Army and simultaneously being considered for canonization as a Saint in the Catholic Church. He truly was a great Soldier & Chaplain who gave his all (and his life) to his country and fellow prisoners held in the North Korean prisoner of war (POW) camp during the Korean War.
