Congressional Republicans who oppose abortion rights are struggling to talk about the horrific case of a 10-year-old rape victim who had to travel across state lines to Indiana to get an abortion because of strict laws in her home state, Ohio.
The case made international headlines after President Joe Biden decried Republican policies that forced the "already traumatized" child to have to travel out of state to terminate the pregnancy. Republicans and right-wing media criticized Biden, suggesting the case had been fabricated, only for a suspect to be arrested days later.
Confronted with the reality of the case, GOP lawmakers interviewed Thursday appeared to be grappling with how to respond — from confusion to blaming the media.

They know - they don't care until it affects them. It's about power and control and that is it. Advocating for the "unborn" is the easiest thing to advocate for because the unborn can't hold them accountable. There's no work they have to put into it other than getting people they want into legislative positions to hold on to that control.
It's also rooted in white supremacy. Birth rates are down especially for white babies. They're scared to become the minority because they think that if they are the minority and POC, indigenous and women get power that the former minorities will do to them what they did to those minorities. That's it. They want to keep their power and control. It's never been about fetuses or children or any of it.

What "liberal narrative" is there with a 10 year old RAPED?
Did she get the abortion? Answer is yes...maybe illegal in OH but the voters made that choice. She traveled and got it done...do I agree with their statutes...NO...But the decision resided in the state where it CONSTITUTIONALLY SHOULD BE!
Did the voters make that choice? Or did the legislators run on false pretenses like the three most recent conservative justices lied during their nomination hearings?
I don't understand what exactly you're trying to convey with your posts. Everyone should have the same opinion when anyone gets raped especially a TEN YEAR OLD CHILD.

a) According to the victim's mother, the sex was consensual, not rape.
b) The impregnator/rapist was not a minor, as reported by the abortion provider, but rather a since arrested 27-year-old illegal immigrant. He was arrested not for rape but for sex with a minor.
There are a lot of unclear details about this whole thing even now.
a. Children can't consent to sex. It's rape in the US. No matter what anyone wants to say. Her mother can believe what she wants but she is a horrible mother if she's defending her child's rapist and that child should be removed from her care immediately. It's possible she's in an abusive relationship herself with that person but that doesn't negate her inability to protect her child.
b. Do you not think that maybe that perpetrator lied to the abortion provider when giving his age? Either way, 17 or 27 that's a rape charge for the perpetrator. I'm not sure where you saw he was charged with "sex with a minor" because: "He's since been charged with rape, a felony of the first degree in Ohio." You can even look up his inmate record in the Franklin County Ohio Inmate search where it clearly lists his charge as "Rape."
Also there's no such thing as "sex with a minor." Sex is a consensual act - minors can't consent.
There's nothing unclear about this. A child was raped and impregnated. The man admitted to raping her. The mother is a horrible mother defending him and that child needs to be either put with family who will care for her or taken by CPS and put in foster care (which doesn't guarantee her safety either).
I don't get you right wing people who try to deflect the gravity of this situation.
