This doesn't surprise me. If you do not know a hiring manager, your chances of getting a job with the VA is slim to none!

COL Burroughs,
I didn't know about this report but I DO know about my 4 year battle with the VA & KVDA (Kentucky). From my local VA rep, through my Regional Admin and up through the VSO rep they are ALL civilians, none of them ever served in the military. How can I expect any understanding, let alone any empathy for my case? I got dosed heavily with "ionizing radiation" at 4 different duty stations and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer before I was 50 years old. Average is late 60's. I have a fully developed claim and am now at the NOD phase (Notice of Disagreement) It only took Social Security 2 months to approve my claim for 100% Disability.
There is another RP member who served at the VA and we have spoken. He said they are taught to deny, deny, deny in the hopes that we will give up or die. I will never give up and I'm not dead yet so I'll get there somehow/some way. IF something happens and I die my wife will take up the fight.
Thank You Sir!
Rick
