Proposal would use social workers, not LAPD, for some calls

Police have always said they are not Social Workers but continued to be sent on those types of calls because those people were dangerous to themselves and others. I asked my Abnormal Psychology teacher years ago about this and even her left leaning self said it would be to dangerous for her to go. This is not going to end well at all. What do you think?

Why not just pair police with social workers on certain calls? The officer can sit in the car an if things escalate to the need of an officer they could come at a minutes notice.

It can be done. There are cops already in place who have social worker degrees, or at the least, empathy and knowledge of what is right for the given situation. They are “ tools in the toolbox”, all that is missing is a “master mechanic “ that knows how to properly use these tools.

So are you going to pay these officers more? Will they be like a SWAT team and only answer certain calls? What happens when one of those officers shoots a subject?
