I think both sides have their extreme sects that ignore facts and reason. I've actually found more people on here who can carry on reasonable discussions surrounding disagreements but there are still a few who will do things like block or down vote opinions and block those they down vote to avoid the confrontation.

Not nearly as many here on RP are as "sensitive" as those I've encountered on other weblogs, but they're here

CPT Jack Durish - Indeed, what I do like is how most members can be going at each other on one post, and then turn around on another post and be in agreement on something. Mostly a grudge free zone.

Can empathize with you especially upon returning from combat where adaptation; improvising; was necessary to survive. Found some commanders were incapable of his officers being allowed to go beyond the norms in accomplishing the goals assigned. Others were like me, a maverick, quick to adapt to changing situations; easily able to fine alternative solutions with lieutenants and sergeants.

The ability to hear bullshit and disregard it is so much better than lacking the courage to face opinions that differ from our own. If a person can't stand to have someone disagree with them, I fear for their ability to deal with reality. I hate the Pious rants put out without any basis in reality as much as the next sane person, but that doesn't keep me from being able to look at the stuff and trying to understand what they are thinking. Ignoring a problem is a good way to get blindsided by bigger problems, being aware of what the opposition is trying to do is simply prudent.
