First they pass a tax bill that blows up the deficit......then they say, "Oh look, the deficit is too high.....we have to do something." So what will they do? Cancel the tax plan that caused the spike in the deficit? Nope........can't possibly do that. Take it from people who depend on Medicare and Social Security for their quality of life? That's the ticket......GOP logic at it's core.

Kinda true. Nixon put it to the vote and the suckers swallowed the hook. Allow the government/president to dip into social security, as and when they see fit, during time of emergency. Nice, but:

1. What constitutes an emergency?
2. How much can the government/president take?

Now voters can be forgiven for not asking those questions, but at least one person should have asked...

3. When does it have to be paid back?

PO3 Donald Murphy - I'm not talking about the "Social security Lock Box." The government mandated payroll deduction should not have happened. My financial future and my future medical financial needs are my responsibility, not yours or any other tax payers. The government stepped in; elephants (not a reference to the GOP) with sledge hammers are not good at tea cup repair.

As a kid I broke my wrist; doctor's visit, X-ray, re-set, and cast was not a weeks salary AFTER insurance paid in. At that time, most Americans did not have medical insurance. I know the cost because my Dad made me pay the bill. We were covered by Dad's military retirement. But because I did something stupid that Dad told me not to do 15 minutes before stupid caught up with me. He took me to a civilian doctor. It was $68. Then dad charged me $5 for the ride to the clinic and $25 for his time.

Maj John Bell - My main problem with America: a capitalist nation that lives socialist. Note that none of the socialist nations we ridicule/fear have soup kitchens or homeless shelters. Only we do, right? Why is that? Because although you and I feel that our well being is our responsibility only, you and I suddenly shriek and bay when homeless folk/foolish folk die alone on a park bench on a winter's night. We then demand that government do something. "How are people dying in the most modern/wealthy country in the world?!" Yup. True stories. So because you and I demand that this death not happen, government has to step in. Sadly, we condone this by our ignorant voting.

The other part of your answer? Well, sadly that's a voting issue too... We support lobbying. Lobbyists are definitely not stupid. So keep asking why senator x should support cheaper medical when he has a seat on big pharm's board? Never gonna happen. This is why "free medicine," "commie medicine," "socialized healthcare" (or whatever term we use) **WORKS** in the nations that have it. Because they don't have medical insurance empires. "This is why we can't have nice things." No. This is why we don't have affordable health care.

You can pick the news source you like and trust, and see that same video clip. Are you suggesting that TYT dubbed the words into Ryan's mouth?

TYT...yes really. They report facts, gives you full context from both sides and are critical of Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives, Liberals, Libertarians, Progressives, etc. Give me another commentary source that has treated all sides of the political spectrum equally and even hold themselves accountable in ensuring accurate reporting meaning they correct themselves if they ever make mistakes. But don't use your bias of TYT to dismiss the words that came out of Paul Ryan's mouth during an interview.

The rich call it a form of welfare if you help the poor.
