NORTHCOM is the Combatant Command that provides command and control if North America was attacked or during National Disasters. 5th Army in Ft Sam Houston or now Fort Cavasos falls under NORTHCOM and provides a Task Force Commander and command and control for actionable military units that are downtrace units or attached to 5th Army for mission purposes.

5th Army has experts in various fields regarding National Disasters. It is very forward leaning and probably the most leaning governmental organization because the LTG knows there is a good likelihood it will be tasked to help out in National Disasters. Just wanted to illuminate some meaningless knowledge. lol
