Thanks for posting. The bomb isn't new. Not more powerful either. The Paveway has been used for some time. Some back to the Vietnam era. The targeting system that allows it to track and hit a moving target is new-er but has been used before as well. This is an updated version.
The F-35, as all new aircraft must, be flight tested to carry current munitions and then launch/drop them. It is a drawn out process that takes a while before they sign off on flight worthy status. Kind of interesting, but they will get certified in the end. Every munition they want to fly on that platform will undergo this same process. Lots of flight time for test pilots! Good article though.
