I believe that this "Chip" (no Pun intended) shortage will cripple the Car and Truck industry, and had we not "given" the technology to China, we would not be in this kind of situation today, and now it looks like we (the world) is going to have to pay the price... Excellent post, PO1 William "Chip" Nagel!

As to semiconductor manufacturing,*Silicon* Valley has long since moved on, I mean moved out of the Valley, the state as well as the US and a lot have gone FAB-less and use offshore foundries.

“””given””” the technology to China? And that is not the only technology “given” away! When I check the labels on my medications, many are made abroad. It is strange that India despite being a manufacturing center for many medications cannot make enough virus vaccine for their own population!

CSM Charles Hayden - I used that word "given" rather loosely for obvious reasons... I figured most of RP viewing this would get my drift, so-to-speak... LOL! I agree with you about medications and zillions of other manufactured goods as well... Manufacturing should have been retained in the U.S. IMHO...
