I agree w/ you about the judge's compassion. I've disseminated my clinical research upon request of some attorney's who defend vets in specialized courts who adjudicate veterans.

I complete 180 from my judge!
My Ohio judge approved a false protection order from my ex who lied & instead of using my 23 yrs of service to our country and unselfishness to go to war in Iraq - it was used nefariously against me.
This was all ex-parte and out of court (only her & the judge) I wasn't there & had no defense, mind you.
Also, I had never been arrested, I don't have a record and I'm a registered Christian minister. Heck, I barely have a parking ticket in my lifetime!
I didn't find out until the next day, when the sheriff showed up at my door. And in one single day - I was given divorce papers, and was escorted out of my own house! This is commonly known and the family court Arena as the "Silver Bullet".
That's because with the false protection order that was approved with no evidence and no due process and not even one court appearance - the husband is escorted out of his own house and immediately the wife gets the house, full custody of the kids.
I had nowhere else to go and was immediately homeless and lived in my truck after that.
The divorce lasted for over 4 years. It's been over 3½ years since I've been "allowed" to see my children. They also put my child support at over 1000% more than I even make in a month! And they wouldn't fix it...
This sent me in the Deep anxiety and depression for years and I almost committed suicide several times.
I spent $100k trying to prove my innocence on a false accusation & and to get my kids back. I thought until I spent my last penny & lost everything I've ever worked for...
I miss my kids dearly every second of every day!!!
I used to think we had rights as Americans & I thought my service to the country actually meant something. But after going through this mess I learned that the judge and the court system cares nothing about me or my children or my military service! I also learned that the judge has full immunity and I cannot sue the judge for denying me orders. Even if I could, only 2% of appeals get approved and that would cost me another one or $200,000 and last for many more years - all of which I definitely don't have anymore money - because the state of Ohio, the judge, all the lawyers, counselors and my ex evilly stole from me & my children's future.
My story was the first have this kind to make it to National TV on CNN a few years ago. I thought maybe a lawyer might see it and be ashamed of how the system and his colleagues took advantage of a combat veteran and his children. But I never received not one call...

Sorry to hear about that. Thats pretty crappy. Yeah lawyers are not going to take a case pro-bono unless they have a chance to win and be a part of the change in the law, it's not a purely altruistic move in most cases it's how they get name recognition in the State Bar as well as pad their resume.
