Three branches of government and not one serves the people or the Constitution. How screwed are we?

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;" This cross is not forcing Congress to make Christianity the state religion. Another way to think about this constitutional right is we have the freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion.

Col Joseph Lenertz, the info that I read stated the American Legion receives no money or grants from the federal government. However, the American Legion was chartered by the U.S. Congress on September 16, 1919. Otherwise, I don't know what official connection the American Legion has to the U.S. government.

Thank you for your research. There must be SOME connection, otherwise where would the lawsuit even begin? The constitution cannot be misconstrued to prevent private individuals or groups from erecting crosses.

Col Joseph Lenertz, I agree. I don't know how the Federal court was able to rule against a private organization unless the Congressional charter is the key.
