Back in ‘98 when I was active duty and we were doing field exercises, we had a Marine driving recklessly in a Humvee. He was counseled numerous times in the past about his speeding and reckless driving. Instead of suspending his driving privileges, they put him back behind the wheel. And during a field training exercise, he drove recklessly, in front of have the unit, myself included. I said he’s gonna roll that thing. Not a minute later, he rolled it, killing our our Motor-T SSGT. He was beat up pretty good but survived. He was court martialed. It was a sad day.

Until they start charging the chain of command this wont change. We’ve all been on convoys where we knew our vehicles couldn’t meet RPs and CPs safely in the times given but we knew the rath we would take if we said anything. Until that environment changes, SMs will continue to die needlessly. JMO.
