I have two issues: First, where in the Constitution is the federal government empowered to impose its will on the education of American children? Secondly, what has been the demonstrable benefit to the education of American children since the establishment of the US Dept of Education?

Thus far, I cannot find any constitutional provision supporting the founding of this department and rather than a demonstrable benefit, student achievement has steadily declined since its founding. Furthermore, the cost of higher education has gone beyond the means of students and their families and the US Dept of Education has funneled billions of taxpayer dollars into the pockets of administrators of institutions of higher education under the guise of "student loans" that will never be repaid.

Might be time to get rid of this Dept or at least significantly downsize it
