Small correction, legal immigrants are welcome and this article reflects that. Now add in the 11-13 million illegals.
More than 43.7 million immigrants resided in the United States in 2016, accounting for 13.5 percent of the total U.S. population of 323.1 million, according to American Community Survey (ACS) data. Between 2015 and 2016, the foreign-born population increased by about 449,000, or 1 percent, a rate slower than the 2.1 percent growth experienced between 2014 and 2015.
Immigrants and their U.S.-born children now number approximately 86.4 million people, or 27 percent of the overall U.S. population, according to the 2017 Current Population Survey (CPS).

Legal immigration is very restricted in Japan. They have trued to convince Japanese whose families immigrated several generations agp to the US or South America to "return" but that has not gone well as "native" Japanese apparently don't accept them socially and so they end up isolated and without the promised job or education opportunities.

MCPO Roger Collins I was referring to Japan on my original comment but that was certainly not clear.

Lt Col Charlie Brown You were clear, my response was due to an associated article I read a while back on the USA population.

I feel sorry for the Japanese. They work hard, but everything is expensive.
