Columbus Day: Celebrating cultural heritage, or the colonization of Native Americans?

I’m a fan of telling the whole story. He was a visionary, a brave adventurer, and critical to the growth of western civilization. He was also very much a man who shared the flaws of his times and much evil befell people due to his actions. Celebrate his achievements while not being afraid to discuss his failings.

Since Columbus never actually made it to the continent, I don't believe it is fair to hang the responsibility for what transpired after that on him
