Years ago this would not be newsworthy. Times change and people in service must change with them. In this climate he could lose his job over what was likely an attempt at humor to put the citizen at ease. I hope not, but you never know these days. If he has a habit of doing it someone needs to have a chat with him before it's too late. Not very smart on his part but I'm guessing there was no malice there. Thanks for sharing.

PO1 Henry Jackson - I'm sure he wishes he hadn't said it. Doesn't change what kind of a person he is though. Just that he's sorry he lost his job rather than for saying it. There's a big difference. I think it's a stretch to fire him over it but he does represent the community, so there is a higher standard. I'm not defending his actions at all, and especially when I found out he's a LT. Here's what I was trying to say though.

There is no context to this situation other than his stupid keister had diarrhea of the mouth. This is not something you blurt out at all. He needs to be counseled if they keep him on the job about professionalism. Out of the mouth comes the words of the heart.

It appears he's retiring or has been fired. Hard to tell from this story. He was a LT. Hate to see him not get his pension for one slip of the tongue. Just shows that you have to be very careful. Things like saying b o m b on a plane can get you in trouble.

He needs to be fired regardless of the context in which he meant it. It should not have been said.
