Voting up this story does not in any way mean that I approve of what the California legislature is doing. I am merely attempting to promote this story so that others will become aware of it. If you live in California it is time to start fighting. If you plan on relocating here, please come to help us fight. We can't all just run away. This insanity will spread like a cancer unless it is excised before it metastasizes and threatens the very moral fiber of the nation.

I'm not familiar with the California law, but my assumption is that it has to do with child sex trafficking. Under federal and international statute, any child who is under the legal age of consent is considered a victim if engaged in any form of the commercial sex industry. This is to protect children from traffickers and the buyers.

Sgt Bob Leonard - Why was it even necessary for CA legislators to come together to vote on this? Where are their priorities?!! What were they vainly trying to accomplish?

Capt Jeff S. - Capt Schwager, I honestly don’t know why they did this. I’m not a Californian Legislator. I wasn’t involved or consulted on the matter. I don’t even live in CA, so it doesn’t affect me, anyway.
But, I have been involved in local politics in a small way (I was on my local School Board for about 15 years). One of many things I learned, and one of the first things I learned, is that the Public, generally, doesn’t have a clue about what really goes on. If they “know” anything, it’s because they read a headline, heard a news story, saw something on a website, or got an email from someone screaming about something “outrageous” that “they” are doing. (“They” being the School Board, City Council, County Commissioners, et al.)
Because of “Open Meetings” Laws that many States have, a Govt. Body must make all decisions during Public meetings, which are scheduled and announced in advance. They have to have open, public discussion on the issues, and receive Public comments before voting. If something suddenly “pops up” to catch the Public’s attention, the only reason it seems to have occurred “suddenly” is because they (the Public) wasn’t paying attention.
I can’t tell you the number of times we got a crowd of people at one of our meetings who were upset about something they thought we were trying to “sneak” by them when in reality, we’d been discussing the issue for the previous three meetings (at least), it was in the minutes posted on our website, and in the newsletter handout given to the Students each week to take home.
If it wasn’t for the fact that, before I became a Board Member, I was just as clueless, I’d have an incredibly low estimation of my fellow Citizens.
But, back to the issue here...
As I said, I don’t KNOW why they passed this revision to the existing law, but the small amount of research I’ve done leads me to conclude they did it to get seven, eight, nine, and ten year children out of the environment that got them forced into the sex trade business, and, hopefully, give them at least a chance at a shot for a normal life. At least, that’s what my research leads me to believe.
Also, my research has led me to KNOW the headline for this post: “California Democrats legalize child prostitution” is false. Whether it’s a deliberate lie, or a misunderstanding, I can’t say. But I can confidently say it’s false.

Despicable.......and anyone who voted this in, approves of it and allows it. Everyone of those Democrats have committed treason against human morality. Children expect its people and government to protect them and be their voice.....this is not the voice of America.

Sgt Bob Leonard - Yes sir. It is a shame that the police are not aloud to arrest any teen for being on the street searching for sex at any time of the day. They are not aloud to be stopped either. Runaway teens have no chance at all. Those running sex slave underground operations will now operate openly. Further, runaway teens can be kidnapped, then forced into slavery and the police will never know because they do not have the authority to stop teens and look for them.

Sgt John Jones - No sir, instead of "being arrested", they are taken into custody and handed off to Child Welfare. There's been no change in the illegality of pimps and johns using children for sexual services. The ONLY change is how the children are dealt with.

Capt Gregory Prickett - Once again, I give the benefit of the doubt to the Judge, Prosecuting Attorney, Defense Attorney, and Child Protective Services and assume there is a reason for the decision they make. Is it your assertion that the decision to try as an adult is done capriciously?

SN Greg Wright: The only point you made is to show everyone on RP what a profanitist you are. If you can't construct a sentence without taking our Lord's name in vein, please let us Christians know and we will pray for a cleansing of your filty tongue.
