Good Monday afternoon to all my Brothers and Sisters in arms...
Many times I have referred to posts I have made about the universe and what is in the universe and I have chosen Topics like Astronomy, Cosmology, and Astrophysics... Each one is tied in to the Universe, but have differing purposes & focus... This YouTube Short provides a short explanation of each so you will understand better facts associated with the Universe as a whole... I hope you all enjoy it... Differentiates well. However, it does not necessarily say Cosmology is a branch of Astronomy. If Astrophysics is then Cosmology as a science also is, imho. In the Astronomy class I had all three were covered.
Because Cosmology is considered to also be a philosophically/religiously oriented topic, I think that emphasis on the science of Cosmology as part of of Astronomy (to differentiate it from Cosmology from a religion and philosophy perspective) would be a good idea . . .

SPC (Join to see) Topic for my Astronomy class paper was KOBE. It had been launched and recently detected background radiation from the earliest days of the Universe. And of course the GUT/TOE/unified theory was then and still is a pursuit of cosmologists but of course it is all firmly grounded in Astrophysics processes which is firmly grounded in quantum processes! Fascinating stuff. But everything is so interrelated in Astronomy differentiating seems sort of fruitless. I'm thinking maybe the field of study should be Astrophysics of which Astronomy is part, and everything else fits too . . . like planetary geology, exoplanets . . .

We simply don't have enough information about the universe, although that is rapidly changing. Until we have a better, more scientific, technology based picture, everyone is going to have their own personal belief of what a universe may be.
