Thanks for sharing the background on corruption in aid Lt Col Charlie Brown Many give to charities set up to aid since the Biafra famine in Nigeria decades ago. [deadly civil war and starvation in 1967 after Biafra declared itself an independent country from Nigeria].
It is rare if ever that a majority of donated funds benefits those in need. Usually management, organizers, government officials, etc. get a slice of the proceeds.
For those inclined to give it is best to research and donate to trustworthy organizations. I have supported Feed the Children in this nation and Samaritan's Purse in their efforts to meet the needs of those afflicted by storms and poverty.
