"Conservatives see the founding documents as a binding contract between "We the people" and our government starting at the federal level and working down to the local municipal city entities." Well, maybe... Chief Justice Roberts seems not to follow that philosophy. His ruling on the ACA went off the rails when he determined that it was a tax rather than a forced contract and then ignored the Constitutional mandate that all bills imposing taxes originate in the House. Personally, I prefer Scalia's Originalist view of the Constitution. It says what it says and it doesn't say what it doesn't say, all in plain language.
