If your stationed at Fort Carson, CO and your a downhill skier this is a really scenic train ride. The train heads directly West of Denver and winds and twists its way up the front range of the Rocky Mountains with some spectacular views. It enters the 7 mile Moffat Tunnel at the Continental Divide and emerges at Winter Park Ski Resort. Comming back is like landing in an airplane as you can look down and see Denver's streets lit up in a grid pattern below as the train starts it's descent from the Rockies. Pretty cool outing for the money. Denver Union Station was also recently rehabbed from the ground up so it is in prime condition as well.
