We already did that during Vietnam War and OIF without substantial success. Some formerly homeless get discharged for being unable to adapt to military life. Some homeless veterans are in poverty due to discharges from misconduct or lacking a support system prior to service.

I have worked with many homeless patients and regrettably, I have yet to find one that would be a good candidate for military service.

My original thought was made "tongue in cheek" with a hint of sarcasm. However, as our population of "poor requiring assistance" continues to swell due in no small part to our continuing situation at the Southern border, "dreamers" might be more adaptable to military life.
