I spent a fair amount of time at Fort Benning and participated in tornado drills which tended to happen in that region of Alabama and Georgia. Tornadoes affect northern Virginia where i live and ta tornado killed in a woman near where my family lived in Upper Darby, PA [outside of west Philadelphia] my friend SSG(P) (Join to see).
Where infrastructure is robust, buildings tend to stand and more people survive as long as they stay in inner rooms without glass windows.
People in vehicles, wooden structures or mobile homes are at most risk of destruction and wide dispersion of belongings. By God's grace scenes of destruction don't tell the whole story. Some people survive - especially those who were warned in advance and take action to get to a low area which can provide cover form the blowing debris unless the tornado directly hits them.
LORD, I lift up the search parties and the survivors and pray that you bring them together with sufficient capabilities to care for them. I pray that YOU move people to assist those affected to rebuild homes and their very lives. Comfort the grief-stricken and restore confidence in people as neighbors help neighbors in these communities.
