This most recent shooting will again focus on the weapon and not on the fact that it is reported the suspect of interest had a recent mental health hospitalization and our current rules prohibit him from having firearms. More laws will not change anything when the existing structure is not utilized.

MAJ Byron Oyler Like any law, it's only as good as it's enforcement.

I do have one family member that has mental health issues and I'm thankful He has no access to firearms and sure fear what might happen if He did. I do have a problem also with Criminals that have used firearms in commission of crimes and are NOT punished to the full extent of the law. i own firearms Myself but have NEVER had any incident with a firearm and carried them in Police work for over 40 years but there are people with mental health or criminal issues that should NOT have any right to carry to protect the rest of us. Laws that are not enforced have NO value.

Unfortunately, as I remember, not all crimes are reported to the FBI for statistics.

SFC John Davis This article is real. This list speaks volumes about our society today. Law enforcement has exposed his social media accounts. Interesting stuff.

SPC Carl Davis - Asking for a 2ND TIME, do you have a single shred of evidence that suggests that this was a hate crime targeting LGBTQIA2S++ hate crime? If not, why is it interesting? What did I miss?

We also have news that he was involuntarily committed to a mental health institution THIS SUMMER. And, his sister tells us that he was experiencing audio hallucinations. That's interesting. And I find it incredible that the DEMOCRAT county Prosecutor and the Democrat County sheriff did NOTHING. Where is your outrage for their failures?

Depending on what type of reaction you want from people, you use different terms. For example, you want people to think about gun control or mental health, you say "mass shootings". If you want to draw attention to crime or gangs, you use terms such as "drive by shooting" or "shooting". For example, one shooting in Chicago was called a "shooting" and not a "mass shooting" even though it met the definition of "mass shooting". "Two men were transported to a hospital in critical condition, authorities said. A 43-year-old woman was also taken to a hospital in critical condition. Chicago police later confirmed a total of eight people were injured in the shooting. The five additional victims were taken to hospitals, initially reported to be in good condition, police said. Two of them were women, ages 23 and 27, and three of them were men, ages 25, 27 and 32." Yet, these incidents are not listed as "mass shootings". In short, depending on the reaction you want, depends on the words you use. https://abc7chicago.com/chicago-shootings-this-weekend-violence-police/13881674/
