Mining the sea, ground, and airfields is an old technology that is still used today. The India-Pakistan Border (LOC) is heavily mined to prevent foreign intrusions, yet terrorists still find ways, i.e. tunnels and gaps, to infiltrate into India from Pakistan. Likewise, the Russians have mined entry points to deter foreign intrusions, and; Ukraine has done the same. Eventually, alternative routes are found that make such mining defunct.
