I have mixed feelings on this one. Illegal/undocumented immigrants are in violation of US Law. The defendant in the described case might not be non-violent, and doing all the right things to earn the rights of citizenship. But until He earns his citizenship He is not one the "People" in a strict Legal sense. We know that there is a violent criminal element crossing the southern border along with the folks just want a better life and are willing to work for it. Giving the undocumented unfettered access to firearms is not a smart move, IMO.
This case also impacts the Non-violent felons that have done Their time and returned to society with their restitution paid;
"The ruling deepens the divide in the lower courts over how to interpret historical gun laws and compare them to modern restrictions. Several courts have come down on either side of whether permanent federal prohibitions on gun ownership by groups of people convicted of varying crimes are constitutional."
I'm all for Non-violent citizen Felons having their 2A Rights restored. It's an historical precedent. What I find most interesting is that the Judge is an Obama appointee, and this ruling is out of character.
