"Every Which Way But Loose" is a 1978 American comedy film directed by James Fargo and starring Clint Eastwood, Sondra Locke, Geoffrey Lewis, Beverly D'Angelo, and Ruth Gordon. The film follows the adventures of a trucker and his pet orangutan named Clyde as they travel across the American West.
In the movie, Clint Eastwood plays the role of Philo Beddoe, a trucker and bare-knuckle brawler who travels around with his best friend Clyde, an orangutan. The film follows Philo's journey as he gets involved in various misadventures, including encounters with a motorcycle gang and a love interest named Lynn Halsey-Taylor, played by Sondra Locke.
"Every Which Way But Loose" was a commercial success and became one of the highest-grossing films of 1978. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, it gained a significant following and spawned a sequel titled "Any Which Way You Can" in 1980, also starring Clint Eastwood and Sondra Locke.
