This YouTuber shows a little bit of the aftermath, the biggest battle the United States was involved in in in Christmas of 1944.

The Germans were assumed to be nearly defeated yet they were able to strike American army units that were not expecting the Germans to send hundreds of their best tanks and hundreds of thousands of troops.

Many of the buildings still look the same then as now.

This is one small sliver of the battle. The US military took over a month for the American and British forces to push the Germans back.
