I'm kinda like the guy that wrote this, "If you want my advice, get both!". And a 30-30 also. "Regardless of which rifle cartridge you choose, there’s not a game animal in North America that can tell the difference." 30 cal, what you need, when you need it. As long as there's somebody out there manufacturing ammo, I believe you'll be able to find 30 cal loads.

I'll take them all. When I'm feeling nostalgic, I'll go with a 30-30. If I'm in a 'swing or big band mood', it's 30.06. If I'm 'punky', it's a .308 day!

Well my 30.06 was like a good Henry but the .308 was bolt action so you are right. It depends upon which mood I'm in.

I've had Both and in Fact, I got rid of 32 of my firearms because I didn't shoot them enough to justify having to clean them for Maintenance. I take care of my firearms. I've given away a few to friends and family as well. Having said that. I'm well armed. 8-)
