I understand the auditor's concern about funding "indoctrination" majors as he puts it. I share his concern, but is this not also suppression of the 1st Amendment? His plan would (in the same relative manner as the internet cabals) deny freedom of speech to conservatives, he would suppress those college majors that in his opinion are "revolutionary" leftist indoctrinators. His plan of increasing support to the majors that are more helpful to Mississippi, has been used previously with great success with the health professions.
Granted, some of these majors are pure BS. I believe that the best way of reclaiming control over the out of control inflation of useless degrees, is to disincentivize the professors monetarily and to actively remove those who promote the overthrow of The Republic, Cultural and Classic Marxism, race related violence, and other means of weakening the nation. It also should be possible to eliminate masters and doctorial programs in these subjects without eliminating their freedom of speech. Classical Anthropology and to a slightly lesser extent Sociology are legitimate fields of study whose value should be reconsidered by the auditor. Did anyone else notice the list of allegedly useful majors? None of those would have even remotely interested me.

Education in and of itself is inherently valuable. It enriches one's life and enables its recipients to have a greater appreciation of the world around them. We should exercise extreme caution.
