SEOUL, South Korea — An American soldier facing military disciplinary actions fled across the heavily armed border from South Korea into North Korea, U.S. officials said Tuesday, becoming the first American detained in the North in nearly five years.

Damn dummy. I hate to think of the crap they are doing to him, ala Warmbier. If we get him back, he'll never be the same, and as an active duty member that has been held by a belligerent power, those injuries will likely be taken care of through the VA system.
So a guy that is facing charges and a likely BCD will get probably get 100% disability and can retire in his 20s.
