To add, Colonel Hwang retired in 2014 as Wing Vice Commander of the 142nd.

LTC (Join to see) Col Hwang is a really modest guy. He said it wasn't just his piloting skills only that got them, it was all the hours of training and flying in exercises.

I met Colonel Hwang in 2006 or 2007. He was then a pilot in the 123rd Fighter Squadron, 142nd Fighter Wing of the Oregon Air National Guard. A piece of one of the MIG's was in the building where the airmen who were the immediate air response pilots would rest when not flying.
