OK, since I live in Bourbon Central, I'll make a couple of comments and one disclaimer. I am personally not a fan of Rye whiskeys since the Rye has a 'hotter/spicier" taste than aged bourbons, However, there are a lot of bourbons that taste as good or better than those in the test for a more moderated cost. Woodford Reserve, Bulleit, Knob Creek, Buffalo Trace, even Jim Beam Black are very good bourbons that don't break the bank. There are so many new Distilleries in the Area now that have been operating long enough to have their own whiskey aged that it's a tough call to come up with a top 10 or 15.
A lot of price in high end bourbons is about rarity and not taste. You can drop a paycheck on Pappy Van Winkle, but IMO, it's not that much better than a Evan Williams Single Barrel.
