One answer to gun control is to enforce the laws, i.e. lock up criminals, restrict ownership or possession of guns by convicted felons and make the penalties so severe that criminals will leave firearms alone.

Oh, you mean follow the laws already on the books! That will never happen! For every new law passed they should get rid of 3 that are useless...

Maj Joan Marine - That sure is the larger part of the problem, NOT enforcing existing laws and punishing the criminals. It's NOT new laws that are need but enforce the laws already in place.

Lt Col Charlie Brown Politicians are smart enough to realize that criminals will always have guns. Stripping the guns from law abiding citizens opens opportunities for criminals to rob and kill honest people. I look for the day (and hope it comes) that someone sues the government for taking away their weapons and because of this they had no way to protect themselves and their family.

Okay - Let those that wish for no more guns to lead by giving up their guns, move to non-policed communities and stop using armed security as their protection. I said that at a fundraiser I was invited to attend. They knew I was pro-gun but I was someone's (I knew that was her plan, though she didn't realize I knew) make fun of Plus One. My date was unhappy once she found I was armed with my legal concealed carry EDC.
.
Withal: My date was giving me grief once she discovered (we danced) I was armed. We were then de-invited and escorted out of the venue. My date was still making a scene (never really understood that phrase until that evening) as we left. The escort attempted to calm her down by revealing that all the waiters were carrying concealed to protect the guests so there was no real reason for her theatrics.
She was extremely nonplussed, I think I was her token barbarian. I never saw her again despite some pointed letters about how she 'forgave me'. I think her father and mother were more upset about the breakup than she. So be it.

I think that the gun grabbing politicians should set an example by not having their protection details allowed to carry guns. If we the people shouldn't have the protection that guns provide then they shouldn't have this protection either. Perhaps their security teams can carry sling shots. I dont think that they are being regulated yet.

Maj Joan Marine Brilliant idea because under the provisions of 18 U.S.Code Sect. 921. Definitions:
"A flamethrower is not a firearm because it does not use an explosive to propel a projectile". Also, I believe California is the only state that requires a permit to carry a flamethrower, so just stay away from California where you would probably need and use it the most!
