Derek Mitchell Obituary - Aurora, CO

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Derek (Deik) Mitchell, a trailblazing U.S. Navy Mustang Officer, a former Senior Chief, and a proud member of the Navy Cryptologic community.
Deik started out his career in Kami Seya, Japan and served in a number of high-profile assignments that are too numerous to mention but that included demanding tours aboard the aircraft carrier USS George Washington, U.S. Navy Information Operations Command Denver, Colorado and an isolated Defense Attaché assignment at the U.S. embassy in Madagascar to name only a few.

He met his former wife Christine at Kami Seya in the mid 1980's at the height of the Cold War and together they raised two fine children, Tony and Connor Mitchell, who grew up to become impressive men in their own right.
