Gone are the days of the 5 cent Hershey candy bar, and the 10 cent bottled Fanta. But with all good memories, as a kid growing up in a real world.

Can you believe we survived actually riding our bikes to and from the Saturday matinee at the movie theater? Most likely also stopped along the way to get that 10 cent bottled Fanta too!

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - My friends and I used to go up a hill, and fly down it, and hope there weren't any cars going by at the "Y" intersection. Lol
There was a small Mon &Pop store, that made us kids drink the bottle soda there, so they didn't charge for the bottle too, the soda cost 5 cents to drink it there.

SGT (Join to see) Ya, if I remember right the soda was 5 cents but there was a 5 cent deposit on the bottle. Could make decent money collecting soda bottles.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - We did, us kids would walk on the side of the roadway, and collect the bottles.
The soda machines only sold bottle sodas, and some people just left the emptied bottles by the machines, us kids would collect the bottles and turn it in to the stores, for 5 cents a bottle.
We also, collected copper, and sold it at the metal shop, buying it.
